The identity of his father is only a conjecture.

Allen Co KY. 15 Oct. 1832, in open court, Christopher Haines, aged 72, deposes: Entered service as regular soldier July or June 1777 under Capt. Samuel Gilkerson in Frederick Co, VA. Discharged spring of 1779. Then went to Rockingham Co VA to live with his mother and step-father David Maunger, when in 1780 he was drafted as militia man for 3 months and served under Capt. John Rush. In 1781 again drafted and served under Capt. John Rogan for 3 months. Was in no battles and after the war he moved to Russell Co VA, then to KY. Was born in Winchester, VA 3 June 1760.

Mary Berry (this is Mary (Short) Berry, wife of Augustine Berry) swears on oath that in Rockingham Co, VA she lived about 3 miles from David Maunger's, Christopher Haines', step-father, in 1781 and well remembers the marching of Capt. Rogen with his company for Richmond and that Haines was a soldier in said company. Christopher Haines was married to my sister in Rockingham a short time before he was said to have been drafted in 1781.

Jesse L. Hickman and Zadock B. Thackston, clergyman, testifiy to age and character of Christopher Haines.

Washington, Co. TN, Sept 29, 1832, George Haines, swears on oath that in 1777 he knew of Christopher Haines enlisting for 2 years. He saw him depart with the troops from Winchester. Witness himself was in the Southern Cavalry and Christopher was in the infantry in the north.

Allen Co, KY 7 June 1847. Tallitha Haines, aged 87, deposes: That she is the widow of Christopher Haines. That she married him 14, July 1782, and he died 9 Sept 1846. They were married by the Rev. Anderson Murphy after the publication of banns.

William H. Ashford and Samuel Haines swear in oath that they were well acquainted with Christopher Haines and his wife Tallitha [(Short) Haines] and they have examined the Bible Record which is in the handwriting of Christopher Haines, and have taken from it the Bible and submit it as part of the record.

Allen Co, KY 7 June 1847 Harden Celcer, aged 60, deposes: He has known Christopher and Tallitah Haines from his earliest infant recollection and when he was a very small boy he was at their house and that they were living only together as man and wife. That he, Celcer, moved to KY in 1800 and Christopher Haines and his wife in 1810.

Ephraim Berry [son of Augustine?] of Allen Co, deposes he is 60 years old, and he was born within one mile of Christopher and Tallitha Hains in VA and that he has known them as man and wife for nearly 10 years. Sworn 7 June 1847 before J.J. Cockerill, J.P.

I give all my land to my two sons Samuel Haines and John Haines and appoint them executors. Witt: William Morgan and Jesse W. Morgan Codicil: To my grandson Francis Ma (burned) Haines, a small filly, cow and calf, etc. This 6th day of (burned) in the year of our Lord 1844. Witt: Thomas Harston, Samuel Hains

Talitha was born in 1760. She passed away in 1853.
