Obituary: Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Shadden 93 mother of Mrs. J.J. Moody of Satanta, were held at the First Christian Church in Beaver, Ok., Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Shadden died in the Satanta hospital last Thursday night after a lingering illness.
Lucyan Josephine Short Shadden, daughter of John and Lydia Jennings Short, was born at Nashville, Ky., November 18,1862. She departed this life June 29, 1956 following a five week illness in the Satanta Hospital.
Josey, as she was known to everyone, was one of three children and a twin sister to John Henry Short Jr. who is still living in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma. The twins died within six weeks of each other. Lucyan died in June and John died in August. John Henry didn't know his sister had passed.

His second wife was Ida Belle Butcher. They were married on 29 Sep 1895 in Cashion, Kinfgisher, Oklahoma. Ida and John's children were Lydia Anna (Short) Wentworth Anglea, John William McKinley Short, Minnie Belle (Short) Ream Dunn, Edmond Ollie Short, Ola Short, Clarence Arthur Short, Charles Herbert Short, Henry Robert Short, and a still born child.
