Cole was born in 1932. He was the son of Cole Shorter and Louise Hynes. He passed away in 2013.
Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Cole B. Sr. and Louise Annette Ardis Shorter. Mr. Shorter was a member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene, where he served on numerous committees including chairman of the building committee. He served in law enforcement for many years and was a graduate of the FBI Academy. He founded Carolina Security and Detective Agency and was also the owner of Shorter's Used Cars.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Cole B. "Tripp" Shorter III (Renee), Pat Shorter Felder (Steve), Gregory Wetherby and Vickie Wetherby Anglin (Robert); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Shorter Brunson; one son-in-law, Kenneth Porter; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rob, Ronda and Katie Speed.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Shorter Porter; and grandchildren, Cole, Carrie and Catherine Shorter.
