Biography

Christian Schauss was born on 11 July 1748 in Whitehall, Bucks Co., Colony of Pennsylvania, son of Johann Adam Schauss (1704–1770) and Maria Barbara Baum (1707–<1768).[1]

Christian Schauss was baptized on 20 July 1748[2] in Jordan Lutheran Church, then in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, now Leigh Co. He was not given ANY middle name, just Christian Schauss, which he changed to the English spelling of Shouse before he died about 1813 in Kentucky. —Nelson A L Weller, author of 3 books on the Shouse family.

Christian (25) married Maria Magdalena Helsabeck (15) (born on March 3, 1758 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughter of Jurg Frederick Helsabeck and Catherina Bertsch) about 1774 in Surry Co., Colony of North Carolina.

Their children were:

Christian died on December 12, 1813 in Kentucky, United States, aged 65.

There are multiple military and census records for a Christian Shouse on FamilySearch that are not to be confused with this Christian Shouse b.1748.
