He was committed to the St Pancras Workhouse on 7 May 1868.[5] He died there during 1869.[6]

Mary Shovelin died in childbirth on 1 February 1841 at 7 Grape Street, St Pancras. Her husband, Thomas Shovelin, carpenter, was present at her death.

Her death certificate gives her age at death as 26.[7]
Her burial record in the St Pancras burial ground on 8 February 1841, gives her age as 35. It also transcribes her name as Thievelin. The later is more likely to be her correct age at death.[8]
