Benjamin John Shreves was born in 1790, in Kentucky, United States as the son of Mattie Mores. He married Minerva Hayden on 7 June 1823, in Lewis, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He died about 1841, in Clay, Illinois, United States, at the age of 51.
