Biography

Vera was born in 1899. She was the daughter of Leonard Shreve and Lilly Boges. She married 1) John McConnell in 1920, 2) Paul Baldwin in 1926, 3) an Unknown Trier in the 1930s and 4) Moses De La Garza in 1941. She had a grocery store in Bridgeport.

Mrs. Vera McConnell de la Garza, 46, died Saturday 16 Mar 1946 at the Bridgeport home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard S. Shreve, after a lingering illness. Vera Shreve was born Nov. 14, 1899, in Bridgeport and grew to womanhood there.

She married John B. McConnell in 1920. She leaves besides her parents; one son, Shipfitter (2/c) Jack McConnell; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Zella Winkleman of Essexville, Mrs. Dorothy LaChapelle of Birmingham, and Mrs. Elizabeth Kohnert of Essexville.

The funeral will take place Tuesday at the Case chapel. Rev. Robert M. Barksdale of First Congregational church, Bay City, will officiate, with burial in Pine Grove. Friends may see her at the chapel Sunday.^[1]

Vera was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, Saginaw County.
