Hiram married Jane Ann Dockstader. Jane was born on 6 Nov 1815 in Caughnawaga, Montgomery, NY. She died on 2 Feb 1860 in Root, Montgomery, NY, from cancer. She was buried in Mapletown Cemetery, Canajoharie, Montgomery, New York. Children of Hiram and Jane include:

James Winne Shults, born November 14, 1866, in Mapletown, Montgomery County, New York, died May 14, 1937, in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, married Mary E. Merselis
Hiram died April 8, 1877, at the age of 64 years, in Root Center, Montgomery County, New York, and is buried in the Mapletown Cemetery, there. [2] Mary A. (Winne) Shults survived him. She died May 17, 1903 and is also buried in the Mapletown cemetery, as are several of Hiram's descendants.
