In 1930, Gilbert, age 24, was employed as a high school teacher and lived as a boarder in the home of Ruth Myers in Southhampton, Suffolk, New York. [4]
By 1940, Gilbert was married to Florence and they had two young daughters. They resided in Johnson City, Union Town, Broome, New York. He was a public school teacher. [5]
Gilbert died June 26, 1997 in Nokomis, Sarasota, Florida. [6] He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin, Tioga, New York. [7]
