Biography

Frederick Jackson Shults is the son of Martin S.E. Shults, Jr. and Barbara Ann (Emert) Shults of Emerts Cove, Sevier County, Tennessee.

About 1832/1833, in Sevier County, Frederick married Hannah Lindsey, daughter of Jesse Lindsey and Salina (Ivey) Lindsey. They were the parents of twelve children, all born in Sevier County:

  • William Harrison Shults, b. 5 Jul 1834, d. 17 Nov 1910 (Age 76 years)
  • Martin Van Buren Shults, b. 7 Nov 1835, d. 17 Feb 1901 (Age 65 years)
  • Barbara Ann Shults, b. 1836,

  • Jesse Derrick Shults, b. 30 May 1840, d. 15 May 1918 (Age 77 years)

Frederick died March 14, 1898, and is buried in the Pigeon Forge Methodist Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee. There is a photograph of his headstone on his Find A Grave memorial. The inscription on his headstone reads:

Frederick J. Shults Born February 15, 1813 Died March 14, 1898 He shall rise again at the resurrection of the last day
