found on ancestry PamelaFKimes In Re: William Jeykel Shuman's first wife Nicey Griffin: My family and I are looking for information concerning the death and burial place of W.J. Shuman's first wife Nicey Griffin (1816-1833). We believe she may have married W.J. Shuman about 1830. We have not found her name listed in the burial/gravesites at Ash Branch PBC Cemetery. We think she may have been living in Bryan Co. at the time of her death. It is possible Nicey was buried at Lower Black Creek PBC or one of the other local cemeteries, but we have not found evidence of this. Does anyone know if the Ash Branch PBC minutes/records from that time period are available to us to read? We believe James Griffin, her father, may have served as a deacon. Nicey's parents, James Griffin and Nancy Burnside Griffin left Bulloch Co., GA and moved to Ware County, GA. They are buried at High Bluff PBC in Brantley Co., GA. Nicey remained in Bulloch(or possibly Bryan Co.)with her husband William when her parents left. Nicey and William had at least one son, William Jeykel Shuman, Jr., who was brought to Ware County by his grandfather James Grifffin after Nicey's death. W.J.Shuman, Jr., was the first Shuman in that area (now Brantley Co., GA) and has many descendants living there today. Does anyone know if a second child was born to William Sr. and Nicey? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
