Biography
William was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1863[1][2]. He died in Charleston, South Carolina at the home of a daughter in 1948[3].
Research notes
Even though a SSDI record gives a birth year of 1862, it appears his birth year was later than that. 1862 would be too close to his brother's birth, and the death certificate says 1863. Also, census records are more consistent with 1863 or 1864.
