Research Notes

• Family history believes Michael's biological parents died when he was young and taken in by the Shumsky family. Birth name may have been Radosh or Radosk or Kardoz.
• DNA matches for Mary Morelli and her granduncle suggest that John, Michael, Anna, and Sophia are biological siblings.

This comes from the Livingston History Barn (historical society). The Schumsky family here was totally unable to provide any real assistance in our search but acknowledged the connection. The name Shumsky was shortened from Shumisky by the nuns who taught them in the local Catholic school. Next, we believe the name Radosh is a phonetic pronunciation of the family Austrian name Kardoz. In here lies the connection. John Shumisky was married to Constantina Omszcruk according to local marriage records. When your ancestor lost his parents, he was placed with the Schumisky family because Vincent Francis Schumisky was married to Sofia Kardoz.
