Hello Sheldon, I'm sure I am not the first, but I've adopted an orphaned profile that appears to have a lot of data in common with your Sara Wheeler. It is also not exactly right. The file that I adopted is very poorly sourced. I think if it is properly researched and sourced, it might be a match. I am asking you to work with me on this because the profile you manage appears well researched.

Thanks, Margaret

I would normally like to work with you on this, but I cannot right now. Sara Wheeler is my 6th great grandmother, so I am very interested in her. If you have corrections on her I think I can give you access to make changes. Let me know if you would like that or you can send me the changes and I will try to make them as I can.

Hi Sheldon. I am researching the Traphagen connection to Ohio. We saw a sign on a post at the Beekman Arms Tavern in Rhinebeck NY years ago mentioning the name Traphagen and since we live near Traphagen Road in Massillon, Ohio thought we'd try to find out why the street here is named this way. Do you know if any William Traphagen's descendents came to Ohio in the late 1700's or early 1800's? I am working with the Jackson Township (OH) Historical Society on this research. Hi Sheldon! I've been searching desperately trying to link Sylvia Whipple to her parents, Job Whipple and Freelove Carpenter and to link Sylvia to her oldest son, William Anson Heath. Finally to complete the circle of my frustration, I cannot find any documentation that ties Sylvia's proported husband, Samuel B Heath to his proported parents, Joseph Heath and Sarah Scripture.

During my fruitless search, I keep running into all the hard work you've done on this group. Please know that I think you've done an amazing job with a seemingly impossible to document people.

May I share what I've found and ask you if you'd share any hard documentation (birth or marriage certificates, etc.) that you might not have previously listed? I've worked gratefully with all the sources you have listed, but so far haven't found anything that will satisfy Mayflower requirements or that quite enable me to stamp "for sure" on Sylvia or Samuel's parentage. If you will, I sure do thank you!!!

The Mayflower Society tracks Job Whipple and Freelove Carpenter from their births through their marriage, and I have Freelove's cemetery inscription from Bottskill Baptist. Job, however, died in Ohio at his son's house, so there is no record of death or burial. There is also no will or probate I can find anywhere linking Sylvia to Job and Freelove except that Sylvia is also buried in Bottskill Baptist.

The only place I find all the descent information on the Whipples to the Samuel Heaths to WIlliam Anson Heath is in the Frank McDonald book on Job Whipple that I know you list as a source. My problem is that McDonald doesn't list sources acceptable to the Mayflower Society--his is a thorough, but sort of puzzled together rendition and as he himself points out, totally incorrect until a long lost relative arrives to provide him with the correct Job Whipple information almost at the end of the book. Surely there must be SOMETHING formal that ties Sylvia and her siblings c to Job and Freelove. Help, help and a fervent thank you for any help.

And then, as if the Whipple issue wasn't thorny enough, we come to Samuel. Everyone lists him as the son of Joseph Heath and Sarah Scripture, but again, I cannot find any acceptable documentation for this. In fact, I found birth/baptistim for all their children--four of whom died on the same day of, I presume, a flu of some sort. Sarah and Joseph had four more children to "replace" those four they'd lost and gave them the same names as the deceased. With all those birth/baptism listings, there is none for a Samuel. And I also found Joseph's will in which he specifically mentions leaving is property to his surviving children, then names each one including the one who received property earlier so Joseph spells out that he's getting nothing in the actual will. Again, mentioning Samuel, do you know where the "B" came from? I have even begun to wonder if his name was just Samuel and the B. for "born" used while researching somehow got added as a middle initial??? I've looked high and low and had the wonderful librarian/researcher at the Greenwich Research Library look for me. She couldn't find a Samuel, son of Joseph and Sarah either. (Plus, just FYI, there are lots of "Samuels" in both Joseph and Sarah's lineage, so the omission of a child named Samuel seems really odd, but again, our Samuel is just NOT listed or documented anywhere.

I have seen that you list a Devon, England "Samuel" as a possibility, but I can't make that work either (date-wise) and there's nothing on his immigration, etc. I also can't make any of the other early Connecticut Heath brothers work as parents for Samuel either.

And you brilliantly found a wedding date for Samuel and Sylvia Whipple (I sure couldn't). Where did you find it and what did you find. Did it have any clues as to the parentage of either?

Almost finally, I also can't find any link or birth information for Sylvia and Samuel's children although I've had better luck finding William Anson's trail in Pennsylvania (glad to share what I have if you're interested!)

Finally, just a "pretty darn sure" clarification for you: Elizabeth Eddy was Sylvia's daughter, NOT Samuel's!!! it's speculative whether the baby was illegitimate (hard to believe of such a devout Quaker family) or was the result of a fairly short first marriage of Sylvia's. Just FYI.

So now you have my sad story. Any hard documentation you have that might help me with my Mayflower quest would be absolutely wildly appreciated. Many, many thanks!

Hi Sheldon... yes for sure... descendant of George Aldrich. Nice to meet you cousin!
Hello Shannon! It was fun to see that we are 7th cousins 2x removed on both my maternal AND paternal side! On my maternal through the Channons and my paternal is Johannes Emmerich.

Howdy cousin!  :)

Hi Sheldon,

I did not find any profiles that were managed by the US Presidents Project, I did a couple of the merges for you, but, please, could you do the rest?
