In the 1800’s Blumenthal was one of three parishes in Horst, which lies somewhat between the Hechthausen and Oldendorf 10-15 miles west-northwest of the city of Stade. F.B.
Anna Siebe, the daughter of Marie Schmidt and Jürgen Siebe, was born on 29 Sep 1885 in Blumenthal, Kirchspiel Horst, Hannover. She followed her brothers to America about 1903, first settling in San Francisco, but returned to Germany briefly, about 1905. in 1910, she is living as a servant in the Knowles household in San Francisco California, 
Anna moved to Cordelia and worked as a cook at the "Family Gun Club", were she met Ernest Roche. They married in 1917 and lived in Suisun California,  where they raised three sons: William, Ernest and Alfred. Ernest died in 1941 of cancer and her sons soon joined the military, serving through WWII. With the help of a small loan from her nephew, Henry Plate, Anna purchase a small home on Ohio St. in Fairfield where she lived until May 1968, when she died of heart failure at the age of 82. She is buried in the family plot at Rockville Cemetery, Suisun, CA.
