"Happy 184th birthday (1831) to my great-grandfather, Henry Siemiller. He was the 2nd child and oldest son of George Jacob and Barbra Plasterer Siemiller's 10 children. Born in Lancaster, York, Pennsylvania, USA, the family moved to Big Sugar Grove, 8 miles SE of Cedar Rapids, IA in 1848. There he was married to Deborah Falkenberg by the Rev David Warrick on the 29th of August 1850. He and Deborah had 12 children. After Deborah's death he married my great-grandmother, Jennette Pringle, on 4 Feb 1876 and they had 5 children. Henry was a United Brethren in Christ circuit rider minister (ordained July 1859 in Caledonia, Ringgold, Iowa, USA), a farmer and a strong abolitionist. In 1856 he bought land in Worth CO MO just south of Grant City. By 1860 he also owned land in Holt CO MO (where my hubby, Roger, grew up but Henry never lived there as far I know however one of his brothers and two sisters did). By 1866 he was living in Ringgold CO IA near Blockton. He seemed to be rather well to do. Google his name and there are several articles about his work in the church and his farm property. He died 30 Sep 1902 of stomach cancer."
"
Happy 139th wedding anniversary to my great-grandparents, Rev. Henry and Jennette Pringle Siemiller. They were married in Taylor CO IA. She was 24 and he would turn 45 the next day. They lived all their married life near Blockton IA and had 5 children including my grandmother, Amy Siemiller Keplinger. Henry had asked Jennette to marry him in June of the previous year but she said it was too soon (3 months) after his 1st wife died of childbed fever. I imagine he thought she would be a good wife being a preacher's daughter and a hotel cook so she would be used to the minister's lifestyle and cooking for a large group. Henry had 12 children with his 1st wife including 10 surviving when they married (and 6-9 of those still living at home). The youngest had died about a month after Henry's 1st proposal and Jennette always felt some guilt that she didn't marry Henry that time and perhaps have kept the baby alive."
