Joseph John Siepmann was born in Germany in about 1872, a child of William Siepmann and Catherine Lang.[1]

He emigrated to the United States. In 1902, at his marriage to Catharine Johansen, Joseph J. Siepmann was recorded as age 30, living in Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa, and working as a butcher. Catharine (also called Katharine and Katie on the marriage record) was recorded as age 22, a native of Germany, and a daughter of Fritz Johansen and Annie Loferenz. She also was a resident of Tipton, where the couple was married on 4 June 1902. It was the first marriage for both. The marriage officiant was recorded as Rev. Thos. F. Galligan; witnesses were Edw. Olterall and Emma Johansen.[1]
