Maurice Burton Sies worked for the railroad repairing train engines as a locomotive carpenter. He was very strong and had a nickname as "The Tank Man". His Son, Maurice George Sies, told of a time after he had completed basic training for WWII. Maurice George Sies was in excellent physical condition since he had just completed training for being sent into war. He visited his father at the railroad yard and he tried to lift his father's tool box which was quite large. Maurice George Sies could not budge the tool box. His father however, walked over to the tool box, placed the strap of the tool box over his shoulder, picked up the tool box, and walked to the next job with the tool box like the tool box was not heavy at all. This totally amazed his son.

Maurice Burton Sies died at age 46 of heart failure.
