Betty grew up in the Miranda area on her parents' farm. She attended country school and then attended the Faulkton High School. Betty and Russell moved around some because he was in the army and then settled on a farm in Northern Hand County. They then moved to Goodwin, S.D. where they owned and operated a cafe and Liquor Store, later returning to Miranda to farm with her Dad. After retiring they moved to Faulkton where they have since resided. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and circle, was very active with the VFW Auxiliary and Legion Auxiliary and was currently the VFW Auxiliary District President. She was an avid auto race fan and enjoyed all sporting events. Loved babysitting for many area families. She was the chauffeur for anyone who needed rides to medical appointments or for any other reason.
