Biography of Apollonia SIGWALT SIGWALD of 1755

Apollonia Sigwalt was born about 1755 in Muttersholtz, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. She is the daughter of Michael Sigwalt, III and Maria Magdalena Kellermann. Her parents were probably both on their second marriage.

Apollonia Sigwalt is one of several full siblings:

  1. Anna Marie Sigwalt , born about 1752 or 1753, who may be a step-daughter or a biological daughter. and who married David Balzinger born in 1753,. David died on March 6, 1811 at the age of about 58 years old in Muttersholtz.
  2. Apollonia Sigwalt, born in Muttersholtz, Markholsheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France in about 1755, who married Chretian Niestoeckel in 1792, and passed away at the age of 48 in 1813 in Muttersholtz.
  3. Johanna Sigwalt, born September 11, 1757 in Muttersholtz, who married Georg Gisselbrecht on January 31, 1786 in Muttersholtz, Markholsheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France, and had several children before passing away on December 26, 1832, including Marie Marquerite Gisselbrecht who immigrated to the United States in 1834 with her husband Johann Jacob Schirck, Sr.
  4. Catherina Sigwalt, born was born on 24 May 1759 in Muttersholtz, Markholsheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. She died in infancy in 1759 in Mutersholtz, Alsace, France
  5. Barbara Sigwalt, born in Muttersholtz between 1753 and 1776 and died in infancy.
  6. Margaretha Sigwalt born about 1768, married Johann Lindhart? on December 30, 1792 in Muttersholtz during the French Revolution.
  7. Johann Michael Sigwalt, born April 7, 1776 in Muttersholtz, Markholsheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France, who married Marie Ursule Engel on September 11, 1811 in Muttersholtz.

Apollonia Sigwaltl lost her baby sisters Catherina Sigwalt and Barbara Sigwalt when they were very young. We don't know if they were twins, however a Maria Barbara Sigwalt is on the same Baptism record page as Catherina Sigwalt.

Apollonia Sigwalt also has older half-siblings from her father's first marriage to Susanna Sigwalt. Susanna passed away in 1752:

  1. Johann Mickael Sigwalt, born in 1743 and passed away in 1812
  2. Maria Salomé Sigwalt born in 1746- who married Mr. Hirtzel.
  3. Susanna Sigwalt born in 1748-
  4. Chretien Sigwalt born in 1750 and passed away in 1820
  5. Mathias Winifred Sigwalt born about 1752.

Apollonia Sigwalt lost her Sigwalt grandparents in 1761 when she was about six years old.

Apollonia Sigwalt married Christian/Chretian Niestoeckel/Niestockel in 1792 in Muttersholtz, during the turmoil of the French Revolution. She and her husband survived the chaos of the French Revolution and the vast changes brought about by the French Republic to time and calendar keeping.

Apollonia Sigwalt lost her father Michael Sigwalt, III in 1793.

Apollonia Sigwalt lost her widowed mother Marie Magdelena "Madeleine" Kellermann Sigwalt on March 3, 1808 in Muttersholtz.

Apollonia Sigwalt lived in house number 76 in 1813.

Apollonia Sigwalt, age 48, passed away on March 1, 1813, in Muttersholtz, leaving her husband Chretian Sigwald a widower. She only outlived her mother by five years.

Apollonia Sigwaltl was also survived by her sister Johanna Sigwalt Gisselbrecht who passed away on December 26, 1832 at the age of 75 years old.
