Born 1862 Market Weighton
Sarah Jane Silburn was born in 1862 in Market Weighton, a small town on the western edge of the Yorkshire Wolds where the main road from Beverley descends to the plain of York, here called Spalding Moor. [1]
Sarah is the daughter of William Silburn and his wife Ann Plowman.
Scholar 1871 Goodmanham
In 1871 Sarah Jane is 8 years old and a scholar: her father William Silbourn (sic) born Shipton(thorpe) is an Agricultural Labourer on Back Street Goodmanham with his wife Ann and six children to support. [2]
