William was born in 1787 in Edgmont Township, Chester County (now part of Delaware County), Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Sill and Sarah Sill.
William's mother died on 25 September 1797 in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
William was named in his father James Sill's will, dated 23 May 1798, in Edgmont Township, Delware County, Pennsylvania. His father died sometime before the will was proved on 22 October 1798.[1]
In 1800, he was most likely living in the household of his oldest cousin James Sill, who had returned with his family to Edgmont Township from Shelby County, Kentucky, to help settle the estate of their uncle-in-law John Holston.
William married Sarah Green about 1815 in Chester or Delaware County, Pennsylvania. They raised their family in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.[2][3][4][5]
