Dear Mindy, how are you ? Passing by to let you know that I finaly found the correct lineage of my grand-father Antonio. In fact his name was incomplete , only with Silva but his name complet IS Antonio Ferreira Monteiro da Silva.
Thanks a lot for your help ! My best wishes to you and family.
Hi, Mindy. As you might previously read, I'm a Mexican man , grandson of Italian immigrants having arrived to Mexico's maritime port at Veracruz, around the 1908 days, as per my Mexico born father's notes. My grandparents' dead bodies reside at a pretty well known cemetery in Mexico City, and located inside part of a City forest, named Bosque de Chapultepec. I think some researchers in this project might need a category for it. I will look for the guidelines to add it if it's not already available.
Thank you for your participation on Team Virginia in the July 2023 Connect-A-Thon. You helped bring Team Virginia to a 15th Place finish with 2,295 profiles added. We could not have done it without you! This year's Thon members added 95,575 new Profiles to the Global Shared Tree!! Here is The Wrap Up information
Mindy Silva participated with The Virginia Connectors during the 2023 Connect-a-Thon, and added 73 connections.
I am a team leader in different Wikitree Projects: Germany, Australia, Ireland, Latin America (Brasil).
Germany Project has recently promoted me to a Project Coordinator for the historic Kingdom of Prussia.
The PC role gives me extra ability to edit Project Protected Profiles. I will only make small corrections in Latin America. I am not an autocrat, I expect any significant change to be debated in the open forum, G2G. One very small change I have made is to change some text in the Latin America Project header page. It used to read "Argentinian Project" which I have changed to "Argentina Project".
I started to thank you for uploading each of the presenters' handouts for WikiTree, but then realized if we all did that you'd drown in notes of appreciation. Thank you for doing what you do! It's appreciated!
Hi Mindy, Sorry to bother you. You helped me recently with the template for Source-a-Thon 2022. I just want to ask one last question regarding the template. What is the correct parameter for adding one's score to the Sticker. I have the sticker already on my Biography but I want to add the final tally of profiles I sourced. Please help.
Mindy, just got this through my e-mail. Could you tell me if it is authentic. So careful these days.

Claudia,
We have a Wheat Family DNA Study underway with 90 descendants participating. The study is focused on your Wheat ancestors. There are no costs. Please get your free gedmatch number so you can participate.
Do not open the zip file that will have your DNA results in it or that will corrupt the data. Keep this zip file safe because you can use the data for other purposes as well.
Then go to gedmatch.com, set up your free account, and upload the DNA results zip file. The link to upload is on the home page on the right. Be sure to set your results as available for public comparisons.
I can send you step by step directions on how to add your gedmatch number to wikitree.
Hi Claudia. I'm not familiar with that DNA Study. What I can tell you is that I always recommend people upload their data to gedmatch.com, it is free. It makes it easier for possible cousins to compare to you if they used another testing company. Your raw DNA data is never stored on WikiTree, so that is not open to dangers. You just add your gedmatch ID to your profile, and it will appear on your direct ancestors.
Hi Mindy, Kevin here. I see you are connected To Alicia Cooke Duvall. Can you tell me where I went wrong. I created profiles for Martin-77696. Her parents are Henry & Alicia Duvall. On her (Martin) tree they do not correlate as her parents. It shows Henry as father and unknown mother? Did I miss a step to connect them? FNG Kevin-That's fun new guy kevin. Thanks cous
Dear Mindy. Thanks for the New discover about Francisco son of Antonio Silva. I need to get some time to research following this New discover. Also , I believe Jose Da Silva born in 1887 is the Same José you have found the docs . .So I have merged the 2 and hope it is correct done ( I don’t have experience in merging)Thanks for that too. Your help is really great. I will research about Francisco and his parents because maybe The break-down could come from this ❤️Thanks a lot and my best wishes. I watched your interview on you tube wiki tree and I loved to see you and listen to you ❤️Congratulations
I can not thank you enough for your continued advice, cheerleading and for stepping into the PL role for the Appalchia Project. You made something very important to me a reality. Much thanks!
I am from Germany and not so very familiar to the actions of WikiTree, like this WikiTree Challenges (the latest is starting today: Matthew McConaughey...). Am I too late for registering?
My profile is Gawlik-25. Perhaps you want to help me.
Bye, greetings from Southern Germany
Eva
I found one of my ancestors, that came from Portugal. The ship log and , census, etc. how do I go about the Postugal part of the study? Do I join a group like yours?
Misty
I'm looking at that profile now. It looks like his father traveled as well, as his older and younger siblings were born in Massachusetts. It would be worth looking at immigration records for the parents (well, ship's registers). You can join the Portugal project if you want, or let me know how I can help. You can also ask questions in the G2G forum.
Thanks for adding the Military information to my Delacruz ancestor! I don't have a paid membership to Ancestry, so I didn't even know about his military service, I sincerely appreciate every bit of the story that people share.
We're doing our semi-annual check-in to ask whether you have made contributions to the project in the last six months?
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the 1776 Project that you respond to this check-in. Please post your response as a reply to this message on your page, for convenience of record keeping.
I certainly have! My focus this year has been to add military sections, sources, and stickers to revolutionary ancestors during the WikiTree Challenge. Thank you for all that you do for the project!
Thank you, Mindy, for the 52 Weeks of Accuracy Badge. I am grateful that even though I started late last year I could make up the 14 missing weeks this year and you were kind enough to give me the badge. It was difficult at times doing 52 weeks in row with all different topics but I managed to improve many profiles, actually way more profiles than 52. Funny how that worked out. If I just put in one more profile I could connect them to an existing profile so accuracy yes but connections spreading.
Thank you Mindy for your excellent work! A person connected with the question I posed and it turns out we're related. I'm still learning how to 'thank you'. Maneovering around the Wikitree is a little tricky but I did get to thank you today. Thank you again.
Mindy, Thankyou for your kind offer re Lyndsey Lester / Luster in reference to the bio Help is welcome, I am going to run how of time I've not added all of Lyndsey's siblings and just managed to add one of his children so far seems an interesting character too he went from a labourer in 1880 to a Physician in 1900. I thought I had the wrong one to be honest BUT he has is Sister living with him in the 1900 Census and the Lady he married was a near neighbour in the 1880 Census (On the same Census Page) also on the same Census Page are plenty of Osborn(e)'s probably relations of Nancy (Wife of Lyndsey) and Pigg and Bogg which are also linked to the family, so plenty of research on going just limited time.
Btw If possible check the 2nd Lt being this Lyndsey (I can't get access to the records ) and there are three in the area One would be too young but the other is possible (cant remember now but I think the other is son of Isaac) though I have seen this Lyndsey referenced as being the 2nd Lt but I am suspicious with how MUCH he managed to do.
Managed 15 children now / 3 wives - The Physician child is Walter W Lester - His Father-in-Law John James Gambill is a Physician too. Been hard work due to names keep repeating Gambill/ Boggs / Skaggs. There's quite a lot of Physicians in this line of the tree. Emily J Lester also marries a Physician Lafayette Skaggs. The following is a write up I found about Emilys husband Lafayette.
He was married and had children. He also had a big farm with hired hands.
He left all of it to become a Doctor and never returned until he was a Doctor
He owned three farms in Kentucky. These farms were in Blane County.
One of them was the Culp Farm. The Culp Farm was filled with timber and coal.
He sold the other two farms to a man named Blackstone. Blackstone struck oil
and made a fortune.
He was the Coroner of Greenup, the County Seat
He came from the Old Country with two brothers. One brother went to ALASKA.
The other brother went to FLORIDA.
He was Scotch Irish
During World War I the government called him to Doctor the soldiers in the camp.
He could cure the flu at that time. He made his own medicine.
Dear Mindy, thanks for your help on my grand-father Antonio Silva's profile.
I see what you mean about you have found a Antonio Silva son of Jose da Silva and Rosa Gomes.
In fact My great-grand-father Antonio Silva has also a son called Jose da Silva born in 10 juillet 1887 S. Pedro de Merelim, Braga, Portugal
so...I will try find out if he got married with a Rosa Gomes, because if yes, he could be the father of my grand-father and not his brother.
Thanks again, you are lovely !
On behalf of the G2G Integrators Project Leaders, we are doing a first of the year check-in with members. Please let us know if you are still active.
If you are active, please let us know in which ways you most enjoy contributing to the project. All of us would like to thank you for your contributions and hope that you are enjoying exploring your roots.
Please reply as we look forward to hearing from you soon.
David, Pip and Dorothy ~ G2G Integrators Project Leaders and PC
Sorry if I hadn't responded to this Pip (I may have emailed you lol)! With all of the WikiTree Challenge work I am doing, I unfortunately don't have time to work with the Integrators project right now. I wish you all the best with it, and thank you for making WikiTree better!!
Hi Mindy - we're dealing with an historic Portuguese ancestor in the Acadians Project and I'm hoping you might be able to confirm what we should presume his original family name to be based on his birth record referring to the two parents. Here's the G2G:
Hi Mindy. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for working on several of my ancestor profiles this week during the WikiTree Challenge, and also for coordinating this event. Not only is it wonderful fun, it's like Christmas. I've never been the recipient of so much all at once. I'm still overwhelmed and need to dig through these one by one. Thank you so much, again. Oh, and we're 11C1R:)
Hey Cuz! Thank you for your work on my Wikitree during the challenge. It is well appreciated, happy hunting! I am sending out a thank you to each Wikitree volunteers that worked on my tree...I have so much to do. I am working on my application to DAR on Jacob Lepper!
I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.
If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
Thanks Mindy, I'll put you down on the Teams Page for profile improvements and stickers. Thanks for your efforts on the challenge I think that works just great.
It was great seeing you on Genealogy TV (YouTube) with Connie Knox! You were excellent! So proud to be a part of this wonderful community and so glad to see WikiTree in the spotlight. :-) Happy 4th of July!
Nice to see a Silva so active in this community. :) I have connections to the Silvas via my grandmother's side of the family. Also have family with that surname in Washington state
As a first time WikiTree Challenge member, Mindy, I want to let you know what I have done on Nathan Goodwin's tree. I have added 4 ancestors and 8 relatives. Still didn't break down Sarah Catto's brick wall, after bruising my forehead for many hours! How is the challenge process supposed to record these things so I do it right next time?
Thanks for all your hard work on these challenges!
Pilla [Ackley-1513]
Excellent. I'm becoming more nervous to play as I don't know how to alter my mistakes. I started late with my ancestry and rushed through as much as I could and at 74 I skipped a lot of the basics. NAUGHTY.
Dear Mindy. I have made a mistake on my tree Richard Burt. My ancestor William Burt 1826 to 1907 I have him with two wives Sarah Boothby 392 and Mary Ann Peck. Mary Peck is the correct wife. Sarah Boothby 393 is the correct relationship with William 1772 to 1827. I don't know how to delete the 392 Sarah Boothby. Please can you help?
Do you remember we have talked about my grandmother Lugduvina. So...now I found her details and her name doesn't have the G.
Her name is Ludovina.I have found my father's birth certificate and her death certificate. Now I have started my lineage from her side.
Thank you for trying help me in the beginning of my researches.
I would love to know if we , me and you , we are related too. We should to compare our gedmatchs.
Kisses,
Jussanam
I have my complete tree now, both sides . I only need some time to fill it up here n wikitree. I need be back to gedmatch so we can compare our DNA but I believe if we are somehow related it should be by my grandfather side Antonio Silva and not for my grandmother Lugduvina. Nice see your photo with your baby. Kisses and love to you and family
Hi Mindy, how are you? I found some distant matchs between us and I a distant match with Jim as well . We have a distant common ancestor Afonso de Portugal but also our short connection comes from Volkenant married with Lillian Nelson. Both are onthe line of my grand-mother Lugduvina ( Ludovina) . My GEDMATCH CT4669106 xx
Just want to thank you for being an awesome leader of our Portugal project. I sent you a private message asking about the best way to add Portuguese parish sources, but no need to answer :). I had a look at how you source yours and absolutely loved how complete and precise you do it so I've adopted your format. Now, I'm slowly going over the profiles I've added so far and revising the sources to the new format. It will be slow but rewarding work. Like you always say, "so much to Wiki, so little time" LOL! Thanks again!
Mindy, I'm reaching out to you because I can't see how to get help on the website. I hadn't looked at my dynamic tree in a while. When I pulled it up to check a family member, I see that many of my past relatives now "dead end" without allowing me to look at their predecessors which have previously always been accessible. Is something wrong with the tool? I would hate if I'd lost the ability to look back. Thank you
Thank you for writing back. Your site has so many things on it that I just don't have a lot of time to do it all. I have been doing genealogy for over 30 years and still finding people. I still have to 2nd great grandfathers we are struggling with. Someday I will take sometime to check the site out.
This week's connection theme is the Puritan Great Migration.
Mindy is
16 degrees from John Winthrop, 15 degrees from Anne Bradstreet, 15 degrees from John Cotton, 13 degrees from John Eliot, 16 degrees from John Endecott, 14 degrees from Mary Estey, 16 degrees from Thomas Hooker, 14 degrees from Anne Hutchinson, 14 degrees from William Pynchon, 14 degrees from Alice Tilley, 14 degrees from Robert Treat and 16 degrees from Roger Williams
on our single family tree.
Login to see how you relate to 33 million family members.
Thanks a lot for your help ! My best wishes to you and family.
Take care, Mindy
I am interested in joining The Chilean Roots Project. Would you be able to help with that? Thanks in advance :) -Adria
