Biography
James Charles Silva was born on May 3, 1889 in Crawford County, Missouri.[1] His father was Hugh Sylvester Silvey, and his mother was Emily Catherine Borden.[2]
James married Eva Arnold on October 24, 1908 in Sebastian County, Arkansas.[3] His daughter Letha Marte was born in 1910[4], and his son Mearl Robert in 1914.[5]
In 1917, he lived at 511 South 13th Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He worked as a wood worker at Fort Smith Furniture Company. At age 26, he had a medium physical appearance, tall, light brown hair, and blue eyes.[6]
Sometime before August 1919, James and his wife Eva divorced.[7] In 1920, he lived on 3rd Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He rented a room from Samuel Herring. It was a large house, beside Herring's family of 3, there were 10 other people living in the home. James worked as a laborer at the Furniture Factory in Fort Smith.[8]
James married his second wife Nola Allen on June 21, 1924 in Sebastian County, Arkansas.[9][10]
In 1930, he lived at 928 1st Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He rented his home for $12.50 a month and worked as a packer in the factory. It was just him and his wife Nola in the home, they had no children together.[11]
His second wife Nolla died on September 22, 1938 at their home 3110 Russell Street in Upper Township, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[12]
James married his 3rd wife Fannie N. Frisbie, maiden name Palmer, on November 5, 1939 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[13][14]
In 1940, he continued to live at 3110 Russell Street in Fort Smith.His wife had two children (Doris and Patsy Frisbie) from her previous marriage that lived in the home, and his mother-in-law Liza Palmer. He owned his home now, valued at $400. He worked as a cabinet maker at Border Queen Kitchen Cabinet Company and earned $936 annually.[15] At age 52, he stood 5 feet and 11 inches tall, weighed about 176 pounds, had a light complexion. brown hair and blue eyes.[1]
In 1951, he lived at 4519 Kelly Highway in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[16]
In 1953, he still lived at 4519 Kelly Highway and worked as a foreman at Border Queen Cabinet Company.[17]
In 1959, he lived at 5517 Speaker Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He worked as an attendant at Fim's Shelly Station and Garage.[18]
James died on November 20, 1972 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[19] He was buried at Washburn Cemetery in Washburn, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[20]

- James birth delayed birth record list his birth place as Fort Smith, Arkansas, but his WWI and WWII draft cards list it as Crawford County, Missouri. He did not apply for a birth certificate until 1972. Given his draft cards were filled out before this time, and that his parents held from Missouri, I believe the draft cards are correct.
