Mearl Robert Silva was born on March 10, 1914 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. His father was James Charles Silva, and his mother was Eva Arnold.[1]

In 1920, he lived on South E Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. His mother and father was divorced and his mother had remarried. He lived with his mother and stepfather (Frank Walcott). His older sister Letha also lived in the home.[2]

In 1930, he lived at 2423 Prairie View Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He lived with his sister Letha and her family. He worked as a polisher at the scissor factory.[3]

Mearl married Ollie Mae Stephens on April 20, 1935 in Sebastian County, Arkansas.[4][5] Mearl and his wife Ollie divorced on May 28, 1940 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She applied for the divorce on the grounds convicted of a felony. Ollie was the petitioner, but it was unclear who was convicted of the felony.[6]

In 1940, Mearl lived at 3111 Neis Street in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. At age 28, he stood 5 feet and 11 inches tall, weighed about 165 pounds, and had a ruddy complexion. He had blonde hair and gray eyes. He had tattoos on both hands.[7]

Mearl died on March 22, 1987 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.[8] He was buried at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.[9]
