THE ENGLISH ORIGINS

Vol Iv, Pg 2686 1994 updated [2]

080-OLIVER (7) SILVERTHORNE (1656-1686), of Netheravon, wheelwright, son of 060-Anthony (6) Silverthorne (1623-1696), of West Ashton and Netheravon, carpenter, was born about 1656, probably at West Ashton in Steeple Ashton (where "Robirt" (sounds like Oliver), son of Anthony was baptized 11 May 1656--(note that Anthony Silverthorne, junior, was churchwarden there in 1656), and died in Jan 1685/86, aged about 30, at Netheravon, and was buried 19 Jan 1685/86 in the parish churchyard at All Saints Netheravon (PCR); his Inventory was taken 28 Jan 1685/86, and administration of his estate was granted 27 Feb 1685/86 to his widow Margaret; he was married 21 Sep 1685 (four months before his death) to MARGARET MIST, daughter of Henry Mist of Amesbury, yeoman (buried there 10 Jan 1705/06), by his wife, Winifred (buried there 31 Dec 1691), who was born in April 1661 at Amesbury, and baptized 15 Apr 1661 at Amesbury (PCR), who survived him and married 2nd about 1687, a Mr. Johnson (who held a mortgage of land in Netheravon of Oliver's brother Charles). We know from various Netheravon wills that 080-Oliver was the brother of 079-Nathaniel (7) Silverthorne, of Netheravon, carpenter (1654 - 1717), who married in 1689, Martha Arthur (buried 30 Aug 1723); in 1698 Nathaniel was called the eldest son & heir of Anthony Silverthorne, late of Netheravon, and formerly of West Ashton, carpenter, deceased, and grandson of Anthony Silverthorne of West Ashton, deceased; Oliver was also the brother of 081-Anthony (7) Silverthorne, of Amesbury, wheelwright, and of Netheravon, yeoman (1658-1731) baptized 28 Nov 1658, son of Anthoney the younger, at Steeple Ashton, died 29 Apr 1731; who married 6 Nov 1689, at Amesbury, Mrs. Mary Bown, widow of William Bowne, wheelwright. (will proved 13 Sep 1688), fellowbondsman in 1685/86 for estate of Oliver Silverthorne (10). Finally, Oliver (7) was the brother of 082-Charles (7) Silverthorne, of Netheravon, mercer (1660-1703), who was born about 1660; inventory taken 9 Feb 1702/03, aged about 42; who was married 22 May 1692, to Margaret Sheppard, who married 2nd 29 Oct 1706, at Netheravon, John Long, of Darrington, merchant (with whom she executed a bond 24 July 1708. All of which proves that Nathaniel, Oliver, Anthony and Charles Silverthorne were the sons of 060-Anthony (6) Silverthorne, the younger (1623-1696), of West Ashton & Netheravon, carpenter, by his wife, Sarah Long (1620-1668).

Silverthorn-111 and Silverthorne-4 appear to represent the same person because: Married to the same person, overlapping dates. Silverthorne-4 more completely sourced.
Silverthorne-20 and Silverthorne-23 do not represent the same person because: They are the same person, but neither is the lowest numbered profile that is also the same person...
