Ethel was born in 1911. She was the daughter of Joseph Simard and Claudia Jalbert. She passed away in 2007.

MEDFIELD — Marie A. "Ethel" (Simard) Gagne, 96, wife of the late Alphonse Gagne, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, 2007 at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield. Born in Salem, daughter of the late Joseph and Claudia (Jalbert) Simard, she had attended Burdett College. Mrs. Gagne had been a resident of Beverly for many years. Mrs. Gagne was employed with the United Shoe Machine Corporation. She was a buyer for the company, and retired in 1975. Following her retirement from the USM, she continued working with Johnny Appleseed's for the following 10 years. Mrs. Gagne enjoyed knitting and made beautiful sweaters for many friends and her family. She was a life member and past senior regent of the Moose Lodge in Salem and was also a member of the Les Dames de Stefamille of St. Joseph's Church in Salem. Surviving her are two daughters, Claudette Nowe and her husband Edmund of Valatie, N.Y.; Ann Marie Gagne and her husband Joseph McCoy of Millis; three grandchildren, Julie Matthews and her husband Jeffrey, Suzanne Cisneros and her husband Carlos, Patrick Nowe and his wife Cheryl; seven great grandchildren, Megan and Lauren Nowe, Joshua, Sydney and Rachael Matthews, Nicolas Cisneros, Angelica Alvarez; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Albert, John, Ludger, Eddie, Rose and Bertha Simard, Marie Jacques, Claudia Cote, Yvonne Carroll and Eva Liscomb. ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, Beverly on Friday at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell - Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., (North Beverly location) Beverly on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thomas Upham House Staff Fund, 519 Main St., Medfield, MA 02052. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com. [1]
