Biography

Jane was a Friend (Quaker)

Jane was born to John and Mary (Waln) Simcock on "ye 21st day of ye 1st month 1730/1" which is 21 March 1731.[1] A Kingwood meeting records from New Jersey have John Brock declaring his intention to marry Jane Simcock on the 9th day of the 10th month of 1755.[2] An errata page at the back changes the day to the ninth from the tenth as it is reported in the book. The date of marriage or a marriage certificate has not been found. Her parents were John Simcock Sr. and Mary (nee Waln), who both have eulogies to be found in the book.[3] Six of John and Jane Brock’s children are listed; Mary, b. 1, 9, 1756 N. S. in Bethlehem, Daniel, b. 16, 12, 1759 N. S. Kingwood, Jacob, b. 14, 9, 1760 N. S. at Bethlehem, Jane, b. 15, 10, 1762 at Bethlehem, Alice, b. 21, 9, 1764, Stephen, b. 3, 12, 1766 at Bethlehem.[4] The Quaker Friends Hopewell MM records show John and Jane Brock lived in Frederick County from 1770 to 1795. When they were first received on certificate from the Kingwood MM in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, her name was recorded Jean Brock.[5] Later records from the Back Creek PM for gct to Westland MM in Washington Co., Pa., on the 3rd day, 8th month 1795, she is reported to be a minister. The Concord MM started in Ohio in 1801. I do not know if they moved there but their children moved on to Belmont County, Ohio. Her husband John Brock was gct to Concord MM in Ohio on the 29th day, 7th month, 1806 with no mention of Jane.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:

Simcock-297 and Simcock-7 appear to represent the same person because: same family

This profile is connected to a spouse that has 2 wives with same names, but different dates and locations, so they are not the same person. Please review and disconnect the wrong spouse. The other spouse is Jane (Simcock) Brock (1731-bef.1815)
I believe this entry is the same person as Simcock-7

They are the same person but Andrea has never replied to my query. I have removed Simcock-7 as a spouse. Perhaps I will hear from her now?

With parents being different and the locations and dates being different, one of them has a lot of incorrect information, IF they are the same person. It is possible the other one married someone else since there are different children attached to that person. There is a child attached to the other one that was born 1750, which is quite a few years before the probably marriage date of this profile

This profile has information that the mother was Jane in some statements and Mary in other statements. Possibly that shows there are 2 different people. Sources that others can use to verify who the parents are of the children on both profiles are lacking.

Also, Ibid should not be used in any wikitree profile. If a source is added before the 1st ibid is shown, then the ibid would be referencing a different source.
