Biography

Joseph Simek appears to have two birthdates. 15 Dec 1890 is based on his birth record but he also used 19 Dec 1891 intermittently. However, it is the same person. He is consistently an Electrician born in Philadelphia, PA and his WWII Draft Card lists his daughter, Lucille Simek, as point of contact. Also, he claimed to be married to Dora Harms in approximately 1917-1918, but didn't actually marry her until 1923. This is consistent with the 1920 Census.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLE (1929): CHILD 'HIDDEN,' WOMAN LOSES ALIMONY PLEA Mrs. Dora Simek, 26, cannot obtain any money from her ex-husband for support of her daughter, Lucille, 9, whose existence she concealed when she obtained a divorce. Judge L.B. Day, who on Thursday becomes supreme court justice, made this decision. It will probably be his last decision as district judge in charge of domestic relations court. Mrs. Simek obtained her divorce from Joseph Simek, September 9, 1924, testifying there were no children, and asking no alimony. Afterwards, she claimed Lucille was the daughter of her husband, with whom she had lived since 1918, but to whom she was not united in a marriage ceremony until 1923.
