George was born in 1879, the son of Jerry Simpkins and Sarah Baird.[1]
After his wife Amelia died, George left his Ohio family to marry Katherine Bird. They eventually moved to Arkansas, where George died in 1940.[2] Katherine and their children continued to live in Arkansas and nearby Missouri.

After his wife Amelia died in Punxatawney, PA, George took their children back to Coshocton, Ohio to stay with older family members. He then tried to find work, met Katherine Bertha Bird and married her. They went to Albuquerque, NM, had twin girls, and moved to Rodgers, Arkansas about 1937, where he died in 1940 at age 62. Katherine stayed in Rodgers, raised their children, & taught school.
