Biography

Lucy Jane Leslie Simmonds was born in London in 1842 and baptised there on 15 May 1844. She was the daughter of James Simmonds, a builder, and his wife Betty Lewis Culliford Simmonds.^[1] In 1860, stating her age as 15 rather than 18, with the consent of both parents she married a widowed coal merchant, Frederick Fox.^[2][3] She died in 1934.^[4]
