Mary Ada Simmons was born in 1864 at Victoria, Australia. She was a daughter of John Simmonds and Mary Jemima Coombs.[1]
She married Samuel Pethebridge on 25th August 1887 in the Baptist City Tabernacle, Wickham Terrace, Brisbane.[2] They had thee children.
When her husband, then Brigadier General Pethebridge, was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1917, Mary became Lady Pethebridge. Sadly, Sir Samuel passed away just months later.
Lady Mary Pethebridge passed away, aged 82 years, in July 1946 in Malvern, Victoria, and is buried with her husband and daughter in Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Springvale, Victoria.[3]
