William was born In July 1864 in New Brunswick. He was a son of Cyrus Simmons, a farmer in Wilmot Parish, Carleton County, and Evaline (Strong) Simmons.[1][2]
He moved to the United States in 1885 where he initially worked as a grocery salesman in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1900, he was living there in a rooming house with people from all over the world.[2] He married Emma W. (Walkter)Eccles, who was born in Salt Lake City, on December 27, 1905. He was 41 at the time and Emma was 44. Emma was the widow of Forest Eccles Sr. Her parents were Samuel Sharp Walker and Frances (Horlick) Walker. [3]
William passed away on July 3, 1928 in San Francisco, California and is interred at the Hillside Cemetery in Reno.[4][5]
Known Children
No children are known to have been born to William H. Simmons. He raised one stepson named Forest W. Eccles from Emma's first marriage.
