Mary Simmons, b. about 1638, was the daughter of Moses Simmons and his wife, Sarah.[1]
Mary Simmons married Joseph Alden about 1660. He was the son of John Alden, who came on the Mayflower and Priscilla, his wife. The Simmons were parents of seven children - Sarah, Isaac, Joseph, Mercy, Hopestill, Elizabeth, and John. Some sources assign an eighth child to this marriage, Mary Alden. So far, no contemporary seventeenth or eighteenth century sources have been cited for a child name Mary being born to these parents.
The family lived first at Duxbury, and then removed to Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Mary Simmons Alden outlived her husband, who died February 8, 1697. She was made co-executer of his estate on March 10, 1697, so was still alive on that date.
