Hansford Simmons was a lawyer in McComb, Mississippi. He was also in the Mississippi State Senate for two terms, 1928 - 1932 and again 1936 - 1940. Later he served as a Representative in the Mississippi Legislature from 1952 - 1956.
Though I have never met "Cousin Hansford", I can well remember my Aunt Edna Simmons Campbell speaking very highly of Hansford, and I do remember my parents, Adrian and Wanda Fortenberry often talking about the warm and "Southern Gentlemanly" nature that was Hansford Simmons.
Hansford encouraged his father, Robert L. Simmons, to recall his memories of growing up in Mississippi. The result was a book "Memories of a Long Life". WELL WORTH looking for and reading.
