Biography

Mary E. Lipscomb, 82, of Terra Alta, won her battle and entered the Kingdom of God on Saturday October 13, 2012, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oakland. The daughter of the late Issac P. and Virginia B. Smith Simmons, she was born January 28, 1930 in Parsons. She was Methodist by faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to rock the babies.

Mary is survived by a son and spouse, Donald and Maria Lipscomb of Oakland; two daughters, Kathy Lewis and husband Jerry of Terra Alta, and Patricia Freeland of Kingwood; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Lipscomb; two brothers, Arley Simmons of Elkins and Robert Reckart of Terra Alta; three sisters, Carol Rumor of Terra Alta, Patty Phillips of Inwood and Dorothy Hebb of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Kayla and Andrew; two great grandsons, Ethan and Jacob and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George A. Lipscomb; two brothers and two sisters; and two grandsons, Michael and Jeff.

Friends and family will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and from noon on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. Harold George officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be made at arthurwrightfuneralhome.com
