Biography

Henry was born in 1878. He passed away in 1914.

The 1910 census shows Henry and his family living in Lee county, TX. Henry's sons, Tump Lee "Blackie" and Wayne Luther "Brownie" were fairly famous musians in the early part of the 1900's in the Dallas/Fortworth area. "Blackie Simmons and the Blue Jackets" have an article that can be found on the Texas Handbook online (tshaonline.org) According to the tshaonline.org article on Blackie, Henry was killed by a county deputy sheriff for moonshining.[1] Henry was married to Elizabeth Cornelia Phillips. Buried in Mesquite Cemetery
