Jesse Rufus Simmons was born on 19 Jun 1883 in Pickens County, South Carolina, United States, son of Moses Walker Simmons (1860–1934) and Alice Josephine Childs (1860–1938).
His siblings were:
Jesse married Mattie Caroline Cantrell (born on 12 Jan 1895 in Pickens County; daughter of James Watt Cantrell and Mary A Mauldin). Their daughter was Florence Mildred Simmons (1914–2006).
Jesse died on 21 Sep 1959 in Easley Pickens County, South Carolina, aged 76.[1]
