Timeline

Research Notes

I am not sure that the listed parents Michael Simon and Anna Elisabetha Bonesteel are his correct parents.

At the Geni profile for our Johannes Christoph Simon there are no parents listed.

At the Family Search profile for our Johannes Christoph Simon it lists his parents as Johann Michael Simon and Anna Elizabeth Barbara Bohnenstiel. Who are listed as having 17 children ranging from the years 1732 to 1762. Most of the listed sons all have the same first name of Johann. There are many edits and changes made to this Family Search profile.

I have a auDNA match with a Gary Simon who is a known descendant of Johannes Christoph Simon through is son Heinrich Simon (1769-1807).

The family information he has lists his father as Michael Simon (1716-1818) from Rhinebeck, and Johann Wilhelmus Simon (1679-1762) the emigrant from Heddesdorf, Neuwied, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Gary Simon's Y-DNA is R-U152 as researched at 23 and Me.[2]

I also have a auDNA match at Family Search through my paternal grandfathers kit with a Mr. William John Simmons who's tree goes back to Johann Simmons (1679-1762) and Anna Sterner. Who would be the parents of Michael Simon listed above. William Simmons Y-DNA is I-M253 as researched at Family Tree DNA.

I think more research is needed to prove who the correct parents Johannes Christoph Simon (1732 - 1798) are.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with John:
