Biography

Marie Louisa Simon was born on July 22, 1864, in Germany. She was the daughter of William and Louisa (Hochschildt) Simon. She married Julius F Erdman on November 3, 1884, in Dodge County, Wisconsin. They had at least seven children during their marriage. She died on October 12, 1943, in Racine, Wisconsin, at the age of 79, and was buried in Horicon, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Marie Erdman, 79, widow of Julius F. Erdman, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank G. Marschke, 2326 Carmel avenue, died Tuesday night in St. Mary's hospital.

Mrs. Erdman was born in Germany July 22, 1864, and moved to Horicon with her parents when 8 years old. She married there in 1884.

Mrs. Erdman, who lived in Racine the last four years, was a member of the First Evangelical church on Park avenue, the Ladies Aid society of the church and the Bible class.

Surviving are two sons, Herbert F. Erdman of Milwaukee, and George W. Erdman of Batavia; four daughters, Mrs. Marschke, Mrs. Earl Higbee of Horicon, Mrs. Lawrence H. Buchda of Waupun and Mrs. Erwin Luedke of Whitewater; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs Albert Erdman of Horicon. Four of her grandsons are in the service.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. John Bartel officiating. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery at Horicon. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dahl funeral home. The body will lie in state in the church from 9 a.m. Friday until service time.
