Joseph was born on 18 October 1652 in Woburn Massachusetts, the son of William and Judith (Phippen) Simonds.[1] He married Mary Tidd on 7 March 1680/1 in Lexington Massachusetts.[2] He died on 12 August 1733 at Lexington.[2]
Their children were all born at Lexington Massachusetts.[2]
Joseph was "listed as owning one of the 20 slaves to be found in Lexington in the year 1735".[3]

Ensign Joseph Simonds was born on 18 October 1652 in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of William Simonds and Judith Hayward-Phippin.1,2 On 7 March 1680/81 Joseph, at age 28, married Mary Tidd, at age 24, daughter of John Tidd and Rebecca Wood, in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.3,2,1 Ensign Joseph Simonds was admitted to the chuch in 1698 in Cambridge Farms, now Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He served in 1700 in Cambridge Farms, now Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as the Caretaker of Ammunition.1 He served in 1712 as an Ensign.1 He served between 1712 and 1713 in Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as a Selectman.1 He died on Thursday, 12 November 1733 in Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 81 years and 25 days.1,2
