Biography

Jacob Simmons was born about 1795, location unknown, according to the 1850 US census.^[1] Or about 1791 in Maryland, according to the 1860 US census.^[2] Or about 1875 according to his grave marker which indicates he was 87 when he died in 1868.^[3]

In the 1850 US census, Jacob Simmons (55) and Rebecca Simmons (44) were living in Elk Grove, Lafayette, Wisconsin, with children Rebecca (20), Betty A (17), Thomas (15), Emily (13), Sarah J (11), Lydia M (9) and John W (7).^[1]

In the 1860 US census, Jacob Simmons (69) was living in Elk Grove, with Rebecca Simmons (58) and John Simmons (18).^[2]

Jacob died on 15 May 1868. He was buried at Strawberry Diggings Cemetery #2, Belmont, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, United States.^[3]
