↑ Source: #S00139 Page: Rial Elmer Simons, Memories Data: Text: "Shortly after my parents were married, on Nov. 11, 1883, they moved to a farm about a mile north of the village of Fairgrove owned by an Albert Arnold. Dad worked this farm on shares the next year. I was born here on December 4, 1884. I think it must have been soon after my birth that they moved back to grandpa's place. Here the next four or five years were spent, here Agnes was born May 25, 1886, and it was from this period that some of my first memories come." Note: #N00034

↑ Source: #S00139 Page: Rial Elmer Simons, Memories Data: Text: "I went to the McIntyre School, a district school with one teacher taking care of eight grades....Eventually I was informed with others that the time had come for the eighth grade examinations. This is the first time I had ever heard of grades. We went to Lapeer for this County exam. I failed in one subject but was given another chance at it and passed. So I was through the eighth grade in the Spring of 1897 while I was still twelve years old and entered Hadley High School in the Fall before I was thirteen. During this period in the McIntyre school Marguerite Sullivan was our teacher and she continued to teach there most of the time until she retired. Soon after retirement she was stricken with arthritis and suffered until her death."

↑ Source: #S00232 Page: History of the Masonic apron Data: Text: This apron was owned by Joseph Wilkins who was born in New York state about 1765 and came to Michigan in 1837 to live with his son, Samuel Wilkins, who lived in Groveland Township, Oakland County. Samuel Wilkins used to walk 20 miles to attend Lodge in Flint. The apron passed into the hands of Samuel Wilkins from his father. After the death of Samuel Wilkins, into the hands of Seth Arnold, son-in-law of Samuel Wilkins, and then to Alexander Wells, a son-in-law of Seth Arnold, who gave it to John Simons, a grandson of Samuel Wilkins and a cousin of Mrs. Alexander Wells. John Simons was a charter member of the Lodge at Hadley, Michigan. At his death in 1923, it passed on to his only son, Rial E. Simons, Past Master of Hadley Lodge. Rev. Rial Simons has been a Methodist minister for 28 years and is now pastor of the church at Flat Rock, Michigan. The apron is now in the possession of Carl H. Simons, Member Lodge 236, Davison, Michigan. The apron is approximately 150 years old as it was worn around 1800 and is the same type as worn by George Washington, which now hangs in his memorial at Mt. Vernon. Note: #N00042
