Biography

Thomas was married on the 7th of June, 1842 to "Martha, eldest daughter of the late Arthur Devlin, Esq., Kissing Point".[1]

The Sydney Morning Herald has a birth notice in 1843 which reads:

At Kissing Point, on the 22nd instant, the lady of Captain Thomas Beckford Simpson, of the Giraffe, of a daughter (Harriet).[2]

Additional children were announced in 1847 (Kate)[3], 1849 (William)[4], and 1853 (Sarah, born at sea on the General Palmer off Cape Leeuwin)[5].

Two other children are noted in the Births, Deaths and Marriages database in 1844 (Thomas) and 1846 (Emily).

He passed away August 1853 in Sydney and the paper claimed he was 44 years old (implies born ~ 1809)[6].

Thomas has a sister named Sarah and his father was Captain Simpson, RN[7]. Another sister was named Harriet[8].
