John Lindley Simpson, of 41 Portland Street, Sheffield, died 31 January 1926. Probate to widow, Sarah Ann Simpson. Effect £833 18s 6d.
Here's an interesting burial record for John - the dates don't match but the description fits our man perfectly!. 13 Mar 1862 John SIMPSON Polisher and Beer house Keeper 32 F3 128 (general cemetery). Unfortunately this record (sheffieldrecordsonline.org.uk) is incomplete so can't check the other details.

"Chris Neale" Personal recollection: "John Cedric Neale told me he lived in his grandparents' pub as a young child." However possible death date for John Lindley Simpson of 1926 is year of Ced's birth.

Is this Alan Stacey related to Sarah Ann (Stacey) Simpson ? As far as I can tell he isn't. The 1939 register gives his dob 21/3/1888. He was still at 39 Portland Street when he died in 1951.
