"Alexander Simpson was born on May 2, 1763, Elizabeth, Essex Co., New Jersey to parents: John Simpson and Sarah Carle. At age of thirteen enlisted as a drummer boy in Maxwell's Jersey Brig of Continental Troops, was under Capt. Wood, Jacob Crane, Samuel Hinman. Col. Crane, and at Elizabethtown and Springfield. He Married Elizabeth Caldwell (D Feb 3, 1829), (and Elizabeth Lynch); Children: Aaron (Br 1792), Moses ( Sept, 1793), Dolly (1795), Electra (1800), Betsy (1803). He died in March 1834 Dayton, OH and Buried at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, Lots 682- Sec 99 –Grave 5, 118 Woodland Avenue, Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH 45409. GM Bronze marker in 1919. Natl. No of Revolutionary Soldier in D. A. R. Honor Roll 19456.
