Biography

Albert was born 4 miles north of Crawfordsville Indiana December 25 1848. He was born with a twin brother Alfred. When Albert was 2 years old his father Alfred died and Albert went to live with his father's sister Emmeline. He was raised by his aunt and uncle until he was 20 on their farm in Carlisle Iowa. [1]The 1850 census shows 2 year old Albert in Monroe Iowa with his siblings and mother.[2] The 1860 census shows that he was living in Iowa with the family of Johnson and Emmeline (spelled Emeline in the census) Wright.[3]

He married Electa Crandall on December 10, 1874 at home at 17th and Locust St. in Des Moines Iowa by the minister T. S. Berry, [1][4] Son Harry was born July 4, 1877 on a farm near Avon Station. Daughter Nellie was born October 5, 1882 in Malcolm Iowa, near a railway station where they had a flour mill. [1]

In 1892 they lost all of their possessions in the Grinell cyclone and came to California with several other families in a chartered car. They first lived in Del Mar for 6 months then moved to Mission Valley.[1][5] and daughter Luella was born in Mission Valley San Diego.[1]

The family moved to San Diego in 1896 and to Los Angeles in 1902.[1] He passed away in 1927 in Los Angeles.[6][1]
