DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

After a few months of research and looking at the 1800 Livingston KY list it's 100% that William C Simpson is not the son of William and Avarilla Perkins Simpson. There has been no proof or sources to support this research. The William Sr on the 1800 Tax list must be the father who was the one who died in 1803 and had a wife Mary, Her maiden name is not known William Jr had a wife Mary also, and was the one who died before 1829 Caldwell. KY We know that Reuben Simpsom had a brother William Simpson both lived in Sherrill Ford near the Catawba River where the Perkins family settled W A Day tells the story of his great uncles William and Reuben Simpson one a Whig one a Tory during the Rev War There has been no connection to the Simpson of Rowan and the Simpson of Livingston/ Caldwell KY.

There have always been questions about the marriages of Elizabeth Hwakins and Will Simpson that the father married Elizabeth just is not true It's better for your research if the older William married a 16-year-old girl. It's certain that Will was the son of William Simpson and Avarilla Perkins and from better-needed sources they had Eleanor Simpson d / 1772 d/ 1841 Callaway, married William Adams, and settled in Callaway MO by 1830 This is where all the grandchildren of James Simpson settled and his daughters Dorcus and Anna Boone Simpson. Ross Simpson b/ 1770 Rowan d/ 1804 Rowan his children were still minors He married Elizabeth Adams sister to William Adams one other son may have been James Simpson no other information on James. There are other things that led me to this and the incorrect information about Mary Robinson as the daughter of Isaac and Catherine who were not the parents of Mary she did not have a brother Samuel and Catherine's maiden name was not Perkins and a sister to Avarilla Perkins. Appears to be made up to link these Simpson Livingston back to Baltimore Maryland and the unforgiven death date of 1825 Logan Kentucky for Avarilla's husband William Simpson b/1721 and praise about your 104-year-old ancestor with not one source, not one source. Nonw ------ Family research is hard work and lots of time and money to get a bit correct without that you have nothing but names on a piece of paper that means nothing

Simpson-12508 and Simpson-2539 appear to represent the same person because: they share similar vital statistics, the same parents and the same siblings.

Hi, Jerry! Thanks for your comment. I shall have to look over your stuff, and compare it to mine. I do have far, far more detail in my "avalanche" than I have posted on WikiTree. This includes research from one of the descendants of William Simpson II and Elizabeth Hawkins. She lists six children for this couple.

I also have direct records on William Simpson III and thirteen of his fourteen children by Mary Robinson (whom he married around 1772, hardly time to have had six children by an earlier wife), and indirect records on the fourteenth. One of those was my 3rd great grandfather, Benjamin D Simpson born about 1777 SC, died 1853 Osage County, Missouri. He married his more-than-a-first cousin, Mary G. Robinson/Robertson 5 March 1808 in Livingston County, Kentucky.

DNA pretty well convinces me that I have the correct William Simpson, out of 47,000 of them to choose from. I have matches with descendants of several of Benjamin D. Simpson's siblings, several of William III's siblings, and some vague-but-convincing matches to Perkins, Gilbert, Sherrill, etc.

Happy to discuss, respectfully, at simpsonseeker at yahoo dot com. Pj
