Robert was born in Sydney New South Wales in 1829. The son of Thomas Simpson and Jane unknown.[1] [2]
Robert married Mary Margaret Morgans in Victoria on the 5th of March 1860. [3] Information from the marriage certificate states that he was a 28 year old bachelor born in Sydney, New South Wales, and his profession appears to read as "stock keeper'. He states his father as Thomas Simpson - a squatter, and his mother as Jane Simpson maiden name unknown. Mary is a 22 year old spinster from Kent, and her fathers name reads as "Morgan Morgans", (a Tailor by profession) and her mothers name as Jane Wilson. The marriage is a Roman Catholic ceremony and is witnessed by John Morgans and Emma Frost.

He lost his wife about ten weeks ago, and leaves a son and three daughters, two of whom, (Mrs M'Dougall, of Boggy Creek, on the Buchan road, and Mrs P. Johntston, of Tambo Crossing) are married.[5] A GIPPSLANDER OF 1850. -O death of Mr Robert Simpson, of Lucknow, removes one of the oldest of the Gippsland pioneers. He was a native of New South Wales, and came to Bairnsdale in 1850, when he was 20 years of age. Very shortly after he left for the Bendigo rush, and returned to Gippslanld later when, with his brother Richard, he took up the Bindi station. The two brothers carried on succesfully for some years, and sold the station to Mr Thos. Lewis. Mr Robert Simpson had been a resident of Lucknow for 29 years. He lost his wife about ten weeks ago, and leaves a son and three daughters, two of whom, (Mrs M'Dougall, of Boggy Creek, on the Buchan road, and Mrs P. Johntston, of Tambo Crossing) are married. The deceased gentleman became unwell on Wednesday of last week, and passed away on Tuesday, the cause of death being an affection of the heart."-Courier." [6]
There are a number of potential births for Robert in the NSW BDM. Unsure if this particular record is accurate. Purchased other records for Thomas Simpson, and there were multiple record numbers for the same baptismal record information.
DNA matches show that Robert shares Paternal and DNA lines with William Simpson (1826-1890) and Thomas Frederick Simpson (1827-1858),
