Biography

Coleman had a twin brother named Dennis. He died in 1838.

Coleman and Cynthia are buried at Reed Creek - NE side of Brushy Mtn.

  • Virginia 11/17/1840 married James T. Butcher - She went to live in Illinois which is where Ulam fled after escaping from the mental hospital.
  • Ulam B. - 3 wives: Irby - one son named Wilie, Laura Penn (Illinois) children unknown, but there were children, Pearl Ree Layne had 7 children;
  • Coleman C. 12/10/1846 to 2/4/1931 married Victoria Catherine Tucker
  • Sarah Frances 9/21/1849 to 1/14/1931 married Elijah W. Holt
  • Ellen Eudora 4/15/1852-9/3/1893 married William H. Short
  • John Thomas 11/30/1857 to 3/19/1939 married Sarah Katherine Walker
  • Beauregard D. 3/12/1861 to 2/7/1934 married Emma P. Walker

His son was named Coleman also and he was referred to as "Cans", but some people pronounced it as "Cange".

He was in the Regiment 107 of Pittsylvania County.

Buried at their farm at Reed Creek.
